Iraq-Modifications to Trademark Payment Terms
Iraq-Modifications to Trademark Payment Terms
In Baghdad, starting from April 4, 2024, the Directorate of Trademarks, Patents, and Industrial Designs in Iraq has made changes regarding the payment process for trademark applications. Previously, applicants were required to pay the official filing fees first and could later settle the official publication fees after obtaining initial acceptance from the TMO.
However, under the new practice, both the official filing fees and the official publication fees must be paid at the same time. Additionally, the Trademarks Office in Iraq now mandates the submission of a certified copy of the trademark registration certificate or any foreign equivalent for trademark applications under class 5 regarding the goods (Pharmaceutical and veterinary preparations and sanitary preparations for medical purposes). This document must be legalized up to the Iraqi Consulate.
