The UAE and the USA Signed a Memorandum of Understanding
The UAE and the USA signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote cooperation in protecting intellectual property rights. The agreement aims to provide a framework and technology to enhance creative and innovative activities, develop new policies for intellectual property protection, and contribute to the growth of both countries’ economies. The Memorandum was signed in the presence of His Excellency Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, the minister of Economy, by His Excellency Dr. Abdulrahman Hassan Al Muaini, Assistant Undersecretary for Intellectual Property Rights Sector at the Ministry of Economy on behalf of the UAE, and Her Excellency Katherine K. Vidal, the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on behalf of the USA. As part of the agreement, the two countries will launch a 5-year cooperation program aimed at enabling American inventors and innovators to obtain patents in the UAE, provided they meet the required standards.
