Libya – Update on Renewal of Trademark Regulations and Procedures
We would like to inform you about important updates regarding the renewal of Trademarks in Libya: The Ministry of Economy has issued a new decree (No. 586) of 2024, which introduces additional requirements:
• Applicants must submit a financial statement that acknowledges the trademark as an intangible asset, including its valuation upon renewal.
• The renewal fee is set at US$2000 per year.
The decree does not clarify whether the renewal fees should combine the amounts specified in this new decree and those from the previous decree (No. 26) of 2024.
We will contact officials at the Ministry of Economy to discuss the implications of this new decree and strive for the best possible outcomes.
Given the current situation at the Trademark Office, we will keep you informed and offer you the best advice possible.
As always, we assure you of our highest level of attention and service.
