SAIP Designates the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as PCT ISA/IPEA
The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) has officially designated the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as an International Searching Authority (ISA) and an International Preliminary Examining Authority (IPEA) under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). This designation allows applicants in Saudi Arabia to select the USPTO to conduct international search and preliminary examination reports for their PCT applications.
This milestone highlights the strengthening cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States in the field of intellectual property and underscores a shared commitment to enhancing and harmonizing IP services that support innovation and business development in both countries.
With this designation, the USPTO becomes the seventh ISA recognized by SAIP, joining the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), the European Patent Office (EPO), the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), the Egyptian Patent Office, the Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property (ROSPATENT), and the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO).
