
Saudi Arabia Introduces Individual Fees Under the Madrid Protocol
The Government of Saudi Arabia has notified the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) of its declaration under Article 8(7)(a) of the Madrid Protocol, confirming that it will apply an individual fee when Saudi Arabia is designated in an international application or in a subsequent designation, as well as for the renewal of an international registration covering Saudi Arabia.
The applicable fees will be as follows:
- International applications and subsequent designations: CHF 1,397 per class of goods or services. For collective or certification marks, the fee will be CHF 1,719 per class.
- Renewal of an international registration: CHF 1,397 per class of goods or services. Where the renewal payment is made during the grace period, the applicable fee will be CHF 1,612 per class.
The new fee regime will take effect on 8 October 2026.
