UAE – Updates on the Renewal and Recordal Requirements
The UAE Trademark Office has amended the requirements for trademark renewals and recordals (including assignments, licenses, and changes of name or address). Under the updated practice, copy of the trademark registration certificate is no longer required when filing renewal or recordal applications.
While this amendment reduces the documentation burden, we recommend to continue to retain copies of the registration certificates for internal records and verification purposes.
The remaining requirements, namely the legalized Power of Attorney (POA) and the recordal documents, are still required and must be submitted at the filing time.
