Launch of the “PPH ” Pilot Program by “SAIP” and “OMPIC”
The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) and The Moroccan Industrial and Commercial Property Office (OMPIC) are launching on 24 April 2024 a pilot program through an agreement signed between the OMPIC & SAIP concerning the “Patent Prosecution Highway “PPH”.
The PPH is a program of collaboration between patent offices, aiming to accelerate the processing of granting patent applications. It is based on sharing the examination results, with a view to reduce patent application processing times, while improving the quality of granted patents.
In addition to signing this agreement, a group of cooperation projects were discussed between the two offices, which mainly revolve around exchanging information about the latest developments in the field of industrial property in both countries and exchanging experiences and best practices in the field of managing and examining applications for industrial property protection and promoting activities and raising awareness among enterprises of the importance of protecting and respecting industrial property rights.
The two offices also agreed during this meeting to develop their cooperation activities in new fields such as artificial intelligence and information and communication technology.
