Kuwait Initiates First Phase of .KW Domain Registration
KUWAIT – The Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) has officially launched the first phase of the National Domain (.kw) registration service, known as the Sunrise Period, effective September 23, 2024, marking a significant step towards enhancing the digital infrastructure of the country and aiming to promote local businesses.
During this initial phase, government entities, existing registrants of third-level domains (.com.kw, .net.kw, .org.kw), and trademark holders are invited to register their .kw domain names. This effort aims to strengthen Kuwait’s digital identity and enhance the online presence of local organizations.
Following the Sunrise Period, the registration process will enter the “Land Rush Period,” which will span six months. During this time, domain registrations will be offered at a premium rate. This phase will be succeeded by the “General Availability” phase, where domains will be accessible to everyone at reduced registration fees compared to the second phase.
