GCC – Adoption of the GCC Patent Prosecution Highway (GCC PPH) Mechanism

The GCC Commercial Cooperation Committee convened its 69th meeting in Kuwait, the presiding state, where it approved the GCC Patent Prosecution Highway (GCC PPH) mechanism. This decision follows the recommendation made by the GCC Patent Committee during its fifth meeting held in April 2025, also in Kuwait.

The GCC PPH introduces a fast-track examination process that enables inventors to request expedited examination of patent applications filed with the national patent offices of GCC member states and the GCC Patent Office at the Secretariat General.

This initiative is designed to accelerate patent examination, enhance cooperation among GCC patent authorities, and improve the quality of granted patents. It reflects a continued commitment to fostering innovation and strengthening regional collaboration in the field of intellectual property.
