PALESTINE (GAZA) UPDATE – Resumption of Trademark Registry Operations
The Ministry of National Economy in Gaza has recently published an official announcement confirming that the period during which the Trademark Office was closed due to the exceptional circumstances has been treated as a period of legal suspension (force majeure).
Accordingly, the Ministry announced that the calculation of the statutory opposition period for trademarks published in Gazette No. 70 will resume from 2 July 2026 until 11 August 2026, thereby completing the three-month statutory opposition period.
Please note that the period from 15 August 2023 (the publication date of Gazette No. 70) until 7 October 2023 had already been counted as part of the statutory opposition period prior to the suspension. The remaining period will therefore continue to run from 2 July 2026 through 11 August 2026.
At this stage, the announcement is limited solely to the resumption of the opposition period for Gazette No. 70. No additional information has been provided regarding other trademark procedures, including renewals, new filings, recordals, payment mechanisms, or the general resumption of the Trademark Office’s operations.
We continue to closely monitor the situation and are making every effort to obtain further official information regarding these outstanding matters and the full resumption of the Trademark Office’s activities.
