Qatar Trademark Office Begins Transition to Digital Services
In a significant step towards modernizing its intellectual property infrastructure, the Qatar Trademark Office has officially embarked on a digital transformation initiative starting July 2025.
This move is part of the country’s broader e-government strategy, aiming to streamline administrative procedures and improve access to official trademark services for both local and international rights holders.
Key Developments:
- The Trademarks Official Gazette is now being issued in digital format.
- The Trademark Office has also introduced electronic registration certificates. Under this new system, selected trademark registrations will be issued only in digital form, with no physical copies provided. In other cases, hard-copy certificates may still be issued temporarily as the Office gradually phases into a fully digital model.
This hybrid approach reflects a transitional phase, where the Office is testing the implementation of its digital systems to ensure a smooth and reliable process. The dual issuance method (electronic and physical) will continue until the digital system is fully adopted across all services.
