
UAE – Follow-Up Circular: New Fees are for Trademark Services are now applicable
Further to our recent notification regarding upcoming changes in the UAE, we are now writing to provide a detailed overview of the significant amendments to the UAE’s trademark fee structure and related procedures, following the issuance of Cabinet Resolution No. 102 of 2025 (modifying Cabinet Resolution No. 20 of 2020).
These extensive changes, which enter into force on November 14, 2025, introduce new services, restructure the appeal framework, and provide new incentives for applicants.
Key Highlights of the Resolution Include:
- 50% fee reduction for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) registered under the UAE SME National Program.
- Fee exemptions for People of Determination, ensuring more inclusive access to trademark services.
- Revised fee structure for appeals against opposition decisions, now dependent on whether the filing party is the opponent or the plaintiff.
- Increase of late renewal fees for collective/certification trademarks.
- Implementation of temporary trademark registration for exhibition purposes.
- New service fees introduced for the following actions:
- Appeals against trademark rejection decisions
- Appeal against cancellation action decision.
- Express examination fees for filed trademarks. The trademark is examined within 24 hours from the filing.
- Converting national trademark applications into international applications.
- Submission of extra arguments.
- Complaint against trademark infringement before trademark Office.
