
UAE officially joins Locarno Agreement Establishing an International Classification for Industrial Designs during its participation in the 68th Series of Meetings of WIPO Assemblies
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has announced the accession of the United Arab Emirates to the Locarno Agreement Establishing an International Classification for Industrial Designs.
On July 6, 2026, the Government of the United Arab Emirates deposited its instrument of accession to the Locarno Agreement, originally signed in Locarno on October 8, 1968
The Locarno Agreement will officially enter into force for the United Arab Emirates on October 6, 2026. This accession marks an important step in strengthening the UAE’s integration into the international intellectual property classification system and supports greater alignment with global design protection practices.
