Libya – Significant Advancements in the Trademark Requirements have been Announced by the Libyan Trademark Office
All documents that are to be submitted after 1/05/2024 must undergo Local attestation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Libya. This is a mandatory requirement to verify the authenticity of the legalization carried out by Libyan consulates abroad.
- The Trademark Office has issued Decision no: (335/2024) on February 25, 2024, with immediately effect:
All The Trademarks registered at the Trademarks Office which were previously published in the official gazette and whose owners failed to apply for renewal of their protection period in compliance with Article (1257) of the Commercial Activity Law No (23) of 2010, are automatically voided by law.
This decision specifically applies to trademarks that were published prior to 2021, indicated by trademark numbers below 22100.

The Applicant must adhere to the list of goods and services associated with the trademark classes specified in Article 3 of the regulation, with the flexibility to choose among the offerings listed within the class for which trademark registration is sought.
