Bahrain Signs Key IP Cooperation Agreements with Korea and Europe
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Bahrain has signed two significant memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) and the European Patent Office (EPO), with the presence of the Minister of Industry and Commerce and representatives from both offices.
These agreements align with Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to strengthen intellectual property rights and foster valuable investments for both parties. The first MOU, signed with KIPO, focuses on the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) program, aiming to expedite patent application procedures between Bahrain and South Korea. The second MOU with the EPO establishes a comprehensive pilot program for patent examination (PPH), allowing for the acceleration of procedures for cross-applications involving the same invention, thereby enhancing cooperation between Bahrain and Europe in the field of intellectual property.
These partnerships are a strategic step forward in enhancing Bahrain’s intellectual property landscape and encouraging innovation across borders.
